In an article written by Greg Miller from Freight Waves, he talks about the peak shipping season and how Oakland is surpassing Los Angeles/Long Beach as the epicenter of congestion. This congestion has been called a “parking lot”. The result of the congestion in California is causing cancellation of voyages and pushing freight rates higher. Maersk is reporting a 20% loss in capacity on the West Coast for this year.
